I should not have hit “publish” so quickly on my previous post - now on to the iPod, generation 6.
According to un-informed sources, Apple is about to announce some upgrades/improvements to the nano and iPod.
It is expected that the iPod will be fitted with flash memory for storage. This replaces the, sometimes troublesome / expensive to replace, hard drive.
The new iPods are said to be running a dumbed down version of OS X that is used in the IPhone. This should allow for the use of a touch screen version of the wheel. For those of you who like the wheel there will one or two that will retain the wheel, although this does not rule out a full screen version of the iPod with the wheel also.
The timing of a new nano and iPod announcements seem to coincide with reports from appleinsider that supplies at major retailer is “extremely low or non-existent”.
