UTube sues YouTube

jack | Uncategorized | Thursday, November 9th, 2006

I’m surprised it took this long, And this has nothing to do with videos.
Universal Tube and Rollform Equipment Corp. of Perrysburg, Ohio has filed a lawsuit against YouTube of San Bruno, CA seeking to bar YouTube from using the YouTube.com domain, having the YouTube.com domain assigned to Universal Tube, and further seeks unspecified monetary damages plus three times YouTube’s profits for damaging Universal’s sales.
Universal Tube, which created and registered UTube.com in October of 1996, alleges that traffic intended for YouTube.com, created and registered in February of 2005, is flooding UTube.com with so much traffic that they have been forced to purchase additional bandwidth. Further their E-Mail communications have been overloaded by E-Mails from disgruntled YouTube.com users complaining that they can not find videos. Universal has even had calls from law enforcement agencies seeking information regarding the addresses of child pornography, hosted on YouTube.com.
It was earlier reported that Universal was considering selling the UTube.com due to its newfound popularity. Stay tuned.
